In 2007, an 18-year-old man was goose hunting in a blind when a poacher shot at one of his decoys, killing the young hunter. This tragic event resulted in a foundation that teaches children about safe and ethical hunting. One of their events is an annual Youth Guided Turkey Hunt, which I got to photograph this year. It's been one of those nights I couldn't sleep. Suddenly, just after 3:30 a.m., a fire call came to 911, so I went to cover it. Little did I know that it will be one of the biggest structure fires I photographed to date, leaving an apartment building destroyed. Read more
